■ Regulations for leave of absence and the extension
1. Period of leave of absence
: Up to 8 semesters (4 years) while attending school, and up to 2 semesters (1 year) can be applied once
2. Extension of leave of absence
: If you wish to extend your leave of absence without returning to school before the scheduled semester (only once during your school days), apply online(student.donga.ac.kr) before the start of the semester or contact the IBM office.
- The application period and tuition fees
1. Application period for leave of absence with no registration for the semester.
: From the end of the previous semester’s final exam to the beginning of the scheduled semester (Spring semester : before the end of February / Fall semester : before the end of August)
2. Application period for leave of absence after the completion of registration.
: After completing the payment of full tuition fee for the semester ~ before the announcement of the final exam of the semester.
- Submission within one month after the start of the semester
>> Full tuition fee will be exempted when returning to school (full carryover)
- Submission one month after the start of the semester ~ before one-third of the total number of school days
>> You will be asked to pay 1/3 of the tuition fee when returning to school
- Submission after 1/3 of the total number of school days ~ before 1/2 of the total number of school days
>> You will be asked to pay 1/2 tuition fee when returning to school
- Submission after 1/2 of the total number of school days
>> You will be asked to pay full tuition fees when returning to school (total extinguishment)
※The reference date showing how many days have passed can be inquired in the Academic Calendar (ibm.donga.ac.kr > Announcement tab > the year’s Academic Calendar).
NOTE
※ In the case of new students, leave of absence is not allowed in the first semester after admission.
※ Leave of absence is not allowed from two weeks before the end of the 15th week of each semester to the end of the semester.
※ When your application is processed, you must leave Korea within 15 days from the date of the processing, showing your flight ticket to the IBM office.

■ Regulations for dropout
You must visit the IBM office in person to fill out a dropout form, and consult with your lifelong guidance professor (the director of IBM) and the form shall contain your guarantor’s information, such as phone number, (digital) signature.
If you have some amount of a tuition fee to get a refund, you must submit the copy of your or your parents’ bank account.
- Regulations for the return of tuition fees due to dropping out.
1. Where a reason for refund occurs by the day before the commencement date of the relevant semester (the date of admission in the case of new students), the full amount of tuition fees already paid shall be refunded.
2. Where a reason for refund occurs after the commencement date of the relevant semester, the admission fee shall not be refunded, but the tuition fee shall be refunded in accordance with the criteria in the table below.
※Regarding the refund, Installment payment for the tuition is not applicable. The installment you paid will NOT be refunded, since the semester must have started and you must have taken the classes for the semester already when you pay the installment.

※ When your application is processed, you must leave Korea within 15 days from the date of the processing, showing your flight ticket to the IBM office.

■ Regulations for returning to the university due to the expiration of your leave of absence and re-enrollment.
You shall apply for your return to the university via the student portal (student.donga.ac.kr) or contact the IBM office before the scheduled semester begins (right after the previous semester ends).
The course registration for the semester shall be done via the student portal during the course registration period by yourself (usually in Feb for the spring semester, in Aug for the fall semester), checking the specific dates for the course registration in the IBM website.
You can also come back after you dropped out years ago (re-enrollment). When you return after the dropout, you will be asked to pay the tuition fee for the semester. Then, you will resume your study from the curriculum you dropped out of before with no disadvantage.
