Child & Family Studies is a department focusing on the interdisciplinary study of the development of individuals and families across the life span. Child Development & Family Studies deals with life-long development of individuals and families from human ecological perspectives. Characteristics and major issues in each developmental stage such as infancy, childhood, adolescence, middle ages, and old ages are explored in the contexts of culture and family.

Our undergraduate program offers coursework on
(1) early childhood education,
(2) family development and aging,
(3) child and family counseling, and
(4) child and family welfare and policy.

Graduates from the department work in a variety of human service settings. These include youth services organizations; early childhood education, juvenile and adult corrections ; family and community services; and long-term care facilities. Graduates are also well prepared to pursue an advanced degree in the behavioral and social sciences, or other professional programs.
