Welcome to our department!
Department of Mechanical Engineering, Dong-A University has built a reputation as a prestigious department with more 50-year history and tradition since its founding in 1955. More than 8 thousand graduates have played a pivotal role in the nation's industrial sites, while continuing to support Dong-A in the spirit of true and loyal alumni.
Our department constantly seeks to embellish its already excellent reputation in teaching, which has turned out generations of graduates able to contribute to the nation and society, by improving the learner-based educational improvement through its specialized system including academic-industrial cooperations and by emphasizing and encouraging creativity in learning. Through academic exchange programs with many universities and research institutes in several countries, our department is also preparing its graduates to become leaders in the globalized 21st century.
Always open to students eager to learn, the mission of Department of Mechanical Engineering, Dong-A University is reflected in its motto: "the department that every young adult who has a dream to be a good engineer wants to attend, the department where every scholar can pursue the high technology and engineering, the department that nourishes ideals."
As 2009 begins, our department is ready to fly across another 50-year span of history to be filled with the achievements and contributions of Dong-A's succeeding generations, making it shine ever more brilliantly worldwide.
Thank so much for you to contact us.
Chairman, Dept. of Mechanical Eng. Kwon Hee, Lee
Introduction of Department
Department of Mechanical Engineering, Dong-A University has built a reputation as a prestigious department with more 50-year history and tradition since its founding in 1955. More than 8 thousand graduates have played a pivotal role in the nation's industrial sites, while continuing to support Dong-A in the spirit of true and loyal alumni.
Now, our department has 20 faculty members, 7 invited professors, 11 T.A.'s and 3 staffs, who serve 1,000 students.
There are six major fields in undergraduate course - mechanical design, thermal engineering, fluid engineering, manufacturing, vibration and control, solid mechanics.
Brief History
In August 1955, Department of Mechanical Engineering was established.
In 1958, the establishment of the Graduate Course(master course) was approved.
In 1978, the establishment of the Graduate Course(doctor course) was approved.
In 1999, Department of Mechanical Engineering and Department of Industrial Engineering were unified to Division of Mechanical and Industrial System Engineering by BK21 project.
In 2003 Division of Mechanical-Industrial System Engineering was divided into two organizations, Division of Mechanical Engineering and Department of Industrial Engineering.
In 2004, Engineering Accreditation System has started.
At present, our department has 20 faculty members and an enroll of more than 1,000 undergraduate students(including 40 graduate students). There ara two major fields - Accredited Course in Mechanical Engineering and General Mechanical Engineering Course in undergraduate course.
The Graduate Course has three courses - 1) Thermofluid, 2) Material and Design, 3) Manufacturing, Vibration and Control.
Educational Objective of Department
Nourishment of mechanical engineers who will lead global society and contribute to the development of nation and province through standard mechanical engineering education course.
Educational Goals of Department
- Nourishment of specialists in mechanical design who can formulize theoretically the demands of mechanical elements and systems and apply those to optimization.
- Nourishment of mechanical engineers who exercise in enhancing of performance of machines by experimental methods or up-to-date technology.
- Building up a active character with high technology who has new ideas and can apply high technique to design through team work.
