Introduction
The Department of Music was established in December of 1966 as the first music academy in Busan, in the purpose of training creative & competent musicians who have skills, knowledge and aesthetic views in Music. The Music Course has changed to the Vocal Music Course in 1968, the Vocal Music Course has changed to the Musicology in 1983 and finally it has changed its name to the Department of Music in 1997. University graduates of the Department of Music in 2003 are the 32nd graduates since its foundation.
The Department of Music includes the field of the Vocal Music, the Applied Music and the composition. Students learn solfeggio, introduction of Music, Harmonics, History of Western Music, and Introduction of Korean Music as common fields, Aesthetics of Music, Sociology of Music, Music Analysis, and Acoustics of Music as the field of Musicology, Applied Composition, Classical Music, Romantic Music, Music of the 20th century as the field of Composition. And in the field of Vocal Music, Students learn Applied Vocal Music, Vocal Ensemble, Opera and Diction.

Educational Goal
The curriculum comprises three areas of composition, vocal music, and musicology so that students can have professional knowledge and techniques, develop aesthetic ears for music, and systematically understand the various styles and languages of musical works throughout human history.

Employment after graduation
Students can play active parts as technical musicians or non-technical musicians according to their specialties. A soloist, a composer, a planner of concerts, a scholar of music, a musical producer, a composition writer of music, a music journalist , a music critic, a choir member, an opera company, a stage music, a broadcasting music, a commercial music, an art management, an art publication and so on.
